In 2018, successful entrepreneur Mazi Zarrehpavar, was looking to apply his extensive life sciences background to a new venture – one that made measurable human impact. He looked no further than the trusted pool of talent at UC Irvine’s Madau Lab, a laboratory he had worked with throughout his career. The research rumblings he was hearing throughout the hallways mapped back to one PhD Material Engineer researcher, Sunny Holmberg, who had been hitting the microscope for over 10 years discovering novel electrochemical applications of carbon.
Sunny, excited at the prospect of bringing his research to the consumer market, joined forces with Mazi and CENCE was born. In Jan 2022, LIMINA, the first off-spring of CENCE, was created with the goal of bringing revolutionary biomarker technology to the fitness & health category.
